Creating a New Template

All users may create a template. Any user may create private or shared templates. Only a user with administrative privileges may create a company-wide master template. All users will be able to see master and shared templates. A user will only see the private templates that he or she created, not the private templates created by other users.

Note: A template of type, shared, can be changed by any user. If you want to keep a copy of your version, create one copy of the template as private and another as shared.

To create a template:

1)  Click on the System Console icon  in the button bar.

2)  Click on the Document Templates icon  to open the document template management screen. A list is displayed of the existing master and shared templates as well as any templates you have created for your own private use.

3)  To create a new template with a blank page, click on the NEW button. The document editor window appears. See the section on Working in the Document Editor.
Note: The top line of the template must be blank. Always press Enter before typing information in a new template.

4)  To create a template based on an existing template, click on clone in the Action column of the existing template. The document editor window appears which contains the selected template. The file name will have the template's name with the word clone appended to it. The file name may be changed. See the section on Working in the Document Editor.
Note: Make sure the top line of the template is blank. The cursor appears at the beginning of the top line. Press Enter if the line has text in it.
